This Bel Air home was built with aluminum wiring throughout. While aluminum wiring is not inherently dangerous, connecting copper devices and outlets to aluminum wiring often can loosen over time with normal expansion and contraction. I discovered this issue during my initial diagnostic before installing a new large farmhouse chandelier to replace an existing fixture. After discussing remediation plans with the homeowner, and replacing a second light fixture, I installed three new dimmer switches, and replaced eight outlets. All connections were made with code compliant aluminum/copper connectors to insure a stable circuit for years to come.
